Shelly Beach Lodge is a safe, secure dementia home in Herne Bay, Central Auckland. 

We provide a safe, home away from home for each of our residents and deliver quality, holistic care incorporating a strong sense of empathy, dignity and regard to their individual rights, needs and wishes without discrimination.

We facilitate and assist each resident in their social, spiritual, cultural and recreational needs and provide an environment that enhances and maximises their independence.

Situated in Herne Bay, Central Auckland, our home has spectacular views over the City and Harbour. 

Set in a large secure garden, our residents can wander freely and safely at their leisure. Those who are capable are encouraged to go out with family and friends. Our lovely outdoor area gets lots of sunshine, and with raised flower and vege gardens, walkways and a seating area for our family visits, summer BBQ’s, birthday’s and christmas parties - it’s a delightful place that our resident's enjoy occupying. 

Inside, our 'Main Lounge' is a light and welcoming space, with comfortable furniture and brightly decorated walls. Rooms are warm and homely and residents are encouraged to add their own personal touches. 

Resident safety is very important to us at Shelly Beach - we offer easily accessible inside and outside areas, hand rails in all toilets, bathrooms and showers and fully comply with the NZ Health & Safety Act. We ensure hazards are identified in a timely manner and procedures are put in place to minimize any risk.  

We offer subsidised and privately funded care, respite, carer support and day stay options.

We provide specialist care for those who have been assessed for needing dementia specialised care/ interventions and are appropriately trained and well experienced in this field. 

Our Healthcare Assistants are supervised by a Registered Nurse, receive on-going training and support and have competencies tested ensuring that care is delivered in a safe and timely manner.

Our activities programme is designed by Joe, our dynamic Diversional Therapist. After assessing each resident to determine their individual requirements, a plan is created that meets their needs in relation to diversional, motivational and reacreational therapy with the purpose of promoting quality of life and minimising difficult behaviours. These activities aim to reflect former routines and activities that are still familiar to each resident.

Our chef prepares delicious, nutritious meals for our residents throughout the day, customised to individual needs and tastes.
